Farm Power
Farm Power is a Skagit County, Washington company founded to protect farmers and farmland by producing energy from cow manure. A proven, commercialized technology called a manure digester is used to harvest methane gas from manure. Methane is burned to create electricity, while sending the processed manure back to the farmers as an organic fertilizer free of pathogens and odor.
Farmland Legacy Program
The Farmland Legacy Program preserves farmland by purchasing development rights from willing sellers of land zoned Agriculture-NRL and then limiting use of the property to agriculture. The Program pays the landowner for these restrictions on the property. The seller continues to hold title to the land and can sell, lease or bequeath the property to whomever they choose.
Farmland Information Center

The Farmland Information Center is a clearinghouse for information about farmland protection and stewardship. It is a partnership between the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and American Farmland Trust.

Puget Sound Fresh
Puget Sound Fresh is a program begun by the King County Agriculture Commission to encourage consumers, wholesalers, retailers and restaurants to seek out and purchase locally-grown products. Now Snohomish, Pierce, Kitsap and other counties have joined the program to help keep our farmers farming.
The Food Alliance
Food Alliance is a non-profit organization that promotes sustainable agriculture by recognizing and rewarding farmers who produce food in environmentally friendly and socially responsible ways, and educating consumers and others in the food system about the benefits of sustainable agriculture.
Washington FarmLink
FarmLink is a joint project of the King County Agricultural Commission and the Snohomish County Agricultural Advisory Board that serves to help ensure working farms remain in agricultural production and to help facilitate the transition of farms to the next generation.
Sustainable Agriculture
ATTRA (Appropriate Technology Transfer for Rural Areas), funded by the US Department of Agriculture, is a national sustainable agriculture information service managed by the National Center for Appropriate Technology. It provides information and other technical assistance to farmers, ranchers, Extension agents, educators, and others involved in sustainable agriculture in the United States.
Watershed Agricultural Council
The Watershed Agricultural Council is a non-profit organization funded by New York City, federal and other sources. Its mission is to assist the agriculture and forestry communities in the New York City watershed to adopt best management practices for water quality protection and economic viability.
Heart of Washington

Heart of Washington is a public awareness campaign designed to increase consumer demand for Washington state food and agricultural products. It is facilitated by the Washington State Department of Agriculture.

Local Harvest
LocalHarvest.org is a national, free, online directory of farmers markets, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, farm stands, U-pick farms, and farm events. Founded in 1999, LocalHarvest now lists approximately 6,000 local food sources throughout the United States, and helps more than 2,000 people per day find locally-grown food.
