This painting, by local northwest artist Steve Harrold is a 24”x24” mixed media acrylic and wire on unframed wood. The whimsical piece features 5 barn swallows sitting and chatting on a physical wire. The background shows distant swallows flying over the landscape of the Skagit Valley.
Steve Harrold grew up in the mid west and studied visual arts in New York City. Now living on Fir Island, Steve has developed his work into a sculptures of fields, gardens, and pastures with tractors. His works seek to look for glimpses of wonder and simplicity in nature’s colors and design.
These sweet birds sitting on a wire remind us that there is wonder in even the smallest quiet moments.
