Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland is seeking nominations for our annual Future Achievement in Agriculture Scholarship Award

Future Achievement in Agriculture Award
This $5,000 award recognizes outstanding achievement and support in the pursuit of agriculture, including food production, horticulture, floriculture, livestock farming and related fields. Students engaged in areas of study which support agriculture (such as agribusiness, animal sciences, equipment technology, mechanics, plant breeding and value-added production) are also welcome to apply. With this scholarship, Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland looks to the future, to promote a strong, healthy agricultural community in the Skagit Valley.
Applicants can be either the student or an academic advisor on behalf of the student.
To be eligible, applicants must:
Be a high school senior or a freshman or sophomore at an accredited college, university or trade school.
Be planning to seek or actively seeking a degree or certificate in agriculture or an agriculture-related field.
Be in good academic standing and have a current GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Demonstrate a past, present or intended future connection to Skagit Valley agriculture.
Show a track record of leadership in school and community activities.
Application to include:
Cover Letter, specifying a) connection to Skagit Valley, b) connection to agriculture, c) leadership experience, d) future plans

1-2 letters of support from faculty, advisor, educator or employer
SPF reserves the right to not award the scholarship if there are no eligible candidates, and to divide the $5,000 award among multiple candidates at the discretion of the board of directors. Previous winners of this award are not eligible to re-apply.
